Gladiators Defeat Greenville in 4-3 Shootout
Gwinnett team extends lead in Eastern Conference ECHL with win over Road Warriors.
The Gwinnett Gladiators defeated the Greenville Road Warriors 4-3 in a shootout victory Sunday (March 11) afternoon at the . The Gladiators (36-17-7-4) extended their lead in the Eastern Conference of the ECHL to 83 points in the win.
The Gladiators scored the opening goal of the game 5:54 into the first period on the power play. Defenseman Will Colbert fed Tyler Kindle at the point for the shot. Forward Jonathan Parker picked up the rebound and jammed it home to give Gwinnett an early 1-0 advantage.

The Road Warriors answered the Gladiators with two straight goals later in the period. Bretton Cameron tied the game on the power play at the 10:15 mark. Brandon Wong and Sean Berkstesser had the assists for Greenville. The second came from Brett Robinson on a breakaway for the Road Warriors.
The Gladiators ended the opening period down by one, 2-1.

Captain Paul Flache tied the game at two as the slipped the puck on the backhand past Greenville goaltender Nick Riopel just 1:44 into the second period. Flache’s goal came unassisted for Gwinnett.
Gwinnett took a 3-2 lead 5:51 into the middle period as Kindle sent the puck to the slot from the goal line where it was deflected off of a Road Warrior’s shin pad into the back of the net. Alternate captain Andy Brandt collected an assist on the goal.
At the 8:06 mark of the period, Berkstresser earned his second point on the night and tied the game at three. Chris McKelvie had the helper on the tying marker.
The Gladiators and Road Warriors remained tied though the third period and took the game into overtime. After 5:00 of defensive play, the game went into a shoot out. The game was still tied at 3-3.
In the shootout, forward Nikita Kashirsky posted the game-winner slipping the puck past Riopel in the second round. Justin Milo secured the victory in the fourth round. Netminder Marc Cheverie was flawless in the shootout against four straight Road Warriors. Cheverie finished the game with 31 saves in the win.
The Gladiators return to home ice on Wednesday (March 14) to host the Cincinnati Cyclones at 7:05 p.m.
