2,000 Runners Registered for Boston 5K in Duluth

Gwinnett Place Mall and Fleet Feet sponsoring 'Run for Boston' Sunday, May 5. Proceeds to benefit Boston One Fund.

More than 2,000 runners are planning to assemble Sunday, May 5, at Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth for a timed 5K “Run for Boston.”

“Gwinnett Place Mall and Fleet Feet are proud to present this local fundraising event to support Boston bombing victims,” said Debra Irving, property manager at Gwinnett Place Mall, in a news release. “With over 2,000 runners already registered,” Irving said, “this event is expected to be the largest single fundraiser for Boston.”

All money raised will go to the Boston One Fund set up to support victims from the recent Boston Marathon bombings.

Everyone attending will be welcome to sign a giant canvas as a show of support from the people of Georgia to the people of Boston.

A 2K event starts at 6:30 p.m. followed by the 5K at 7 p.m., and a Tot Trot at 7:30 p.m. Awards will be presented at 7:45 p.m.

In addition to the running events, there will be games and bouncy attractions for the kids. Gwinnett Place Mall is located at 2100 Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth. The mall is anchored by Belk, JCPenney, Macy’s and Sears.
