Atlanta Team Wins Junior League Golf World Series

Members of team hail from Duluth, Lawrenceville, Alpharetta, Roswell, Buford, Dacula, Milton, and Mableton.

A team of 10 youth golfers from Atlanta swept three matches this past weekend (Sept. 17-18) against their counterparts from Dallas, San Diego and Tampa to win the inaugural Junior League Golf World Series at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth.

The Junior League Golf World Series, played in a round-robin format that began with two matches for each team on Saturday and concluded with two final matches Sunday morning, brought together teams of 13-and-under boys and girls from each of the four cities, all of whom competed this past year in pilot seasons of Junior League Golf in their respective cities. Atlanta defeated Dallas to take the World Series title. San Diego edged Tampa for third place.

The Atlanta team was captained by Chuck Scoggins, director of junior golf at Canongate Golf. Members of the team holding aloft the World Series trophy and their golf cluf affiliations are Kevin Cuevas, 13, Country Club of the South/Bear's Best, Lawrenceville; Madison Barnett, 13, Country Club of Roswell, Mableton; JonErik Alford, 13, Country Club of Roswell, Roswell; Luka Karaulic, 11, Hamilton Mill, Lawrenceville; Alex Markham, 12, Hamilton Mill, Dacula; Jordan Rodriquez, 13, Hamilton Mill, Buford; Conner Conkel, 13, Hamilton Mill, Buford; Alex Kim, 13,Β TPC Sugarloaf, Duluth; Austin Stachowski, 12, Alpharetta Athletic Club, Milton; and A.J. Klabnik, 13, Alpharetta Athletic Club, Milton.
