Fall Family Fun at Yellow River Game Ranch

Anyone within driving distance and an interest in getting their fingers licked and nibbled might find the Yellow River Game Ranch a positive family experience.

We love the beautiful fall weather in Georgia! The nice weather this past weekend gave us the perfect opportunity to schedule a fun visit to the Yellow River Game Ranch in Lilburn with multiple car loads of family and friends.

According to their website, when touring the Game Ranch, you stroll through “24 wooded acres and encounter as many as six hundred small to large “people-friendly” birds and animals indigenous to Georgia.

Armed with bags of corn, carrots, apples and crackers, our “animal-friendly” group, ranging in age from 8 to 64, set off on a self-guided tour through the woods on the one mile walk, pausing long enough at each stop to interact with any animal willing to deal with our family energy.

We greeted and fed the peacocks, ducks, pheasants, goats, donkeys, squirrels and deer up close and personal, while we happily allowed the fences and cages to put a distance between us and the bears, cougar, bobcats, grey fox and buffalo.

We never get tired of family outings. A few friendly faces come and go, but the result is always the same: We all return to our busy lives, happy that we took the time to reconnect.
