Wildcats Earn Sportsmanship Award
Duluth High School community honored for exemplary behavior at sporting events during 2011-12 school year.
The sportsmanship exhibited by the Duluth High School Wildcats and their supporters during competitive sports events earned a special award from the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) and Georgia’s EMCs (Electric Membership Cooperatives). Both organizations presented the Wildcats with the Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship award.
“This award is not only an honor for the individual school, but also recognition for the community as a whole,” said Mike Emory, director of athletics, student activities and community events for Gwinnett County Public Schools, in a press release announcing the award.
“It reinforces the GHSA philosophy that ‘students, athletes, coaches, spectators and all others associated with high school activities programs should adhere to the fundamental values of respect, fairness, honesty, and responsibility,’” he said.
