Peachtree Ridge's Hope Steele Named Georgia's Top Art Teacher

The 2014 Georgia Art Education Association Secondary Art Educator of the Year award is considered the state's highest award for high-school art teaching.

Hope Steele of Peachtree Ridge High School has been named the 2014 Georgia Art Education Association Secondary Art Educator of the Year. It is considered the state’s highest award for high-school art teaching.

“She is a leader and advocate for secondary art teachers in Georgia,” Lauren Christine Phillips, Co-District 3 President for the Georgia Art Education Association (GAEA), said in a press release. “Hope is incredibly hard working and has always volunteered in GAEA, whether she is organizing art auctions to raise scholarship money or helping out with our state conferences. We recognized Hope for all of the things she does to promote strong art education programs at the secondary level. We are grateful for her service.”
As a member of GAEA, Steele is currently organizing the All-State Art Symposium, a showcase for high school art students. She also has served as he association’s secondary division director.

Steele has taught Drawing and Painting at Peachtree Ridge High since 2005. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Art-Drawing & Painting from the University of Georgia.
