New Principal to Lead Berkeley Lake Elementary
Dr. Susan Bearse named to replace Dr. FA McLeod, who is retiring at the end of the school year.
The Gwinnett County Board of Education announced at its May 17 meeting that Dr. Susan Bearse will be the new principal of for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year.
Currently principal at Cedar Hill Elementary School in Lawrenceville, Dr. Bearse will take over June 1 as principal at Berkeley Lake ES, which is part of Duluth Cluster schools. She fills the position of retiring Principal Dr. FA McLeod, who has been at Berkeley Lake ES since 2008.
Dr. Bearse has been the Cedar Hill ES principal since 2009 and was assistant principal at Chattahoochee Elementary in Duluth from 2006-2009. She also served as assistant principal at Norcross Elementary from 2002-2006 and taught third grade at Peachtree Elementary in Norcross from 1997-2002.

She began her career in education as a teacher in 1977 at North Allegheny School District in Pittsburgh, PA, where she taught for 10 years and later served as assistant principal (1987-88).
Her educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Edinboro University. She also earned a master's degree and a doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh.
