Students entering seventh grade this fall will need to get two vaccines, according to a state law going into effect Tuesday.
The new law requires rising seventh-graders to get a booster vaccine for TDP (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis, which is also known as whooping cough) and a vaccine against meningococcal meningitis.
As with other vaccines, parents can request a waiver for religious or medical reasons with proper paperwork.
You can get more information about the vaccines from the Georgia Department of Education in this document aimed at school and public health nurses.
