Bus Lane Named for First Chattahoochee ES Principal

The Gwinnett County Board of Education voted unanimously to name the bus lane of the school after Jane Coomer. She was the first principal of Chattahoochee Elementary.

Leaders at Chattahoochee Elementary saw fit to honor the first principal of the school in a special request made Thursday (Feb. 28) during the monthly business meeting of the GWinnett County Board of Education.

In a 5-0 vote, theΒ  school board voted to name the bus lane in front of the school "Coomer Cove" after Jane Coomer. She spent 14 years as the school's leader and she still volunteers there in her retirement.

Principal Jeff Lee called Coomer a "consummate educator and professional." He also said that "the naming of the bus lane would be a fitting and appropriate honor for her, as well as for the school."
