GCPS Hosting Career and Tech Education Fair

Gwinnett County Public Schools is giving students interested in Career and Technical Education (CTE) an opportunity to learn more about potential careers through its first annual Career and Technical Education Fair.

Students will get to meet professionals in different areas of interest, as well as representatives from higher education institutions that specialize in technical fields, according to a GCPS announcement about the fair.

The fair is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, on the campus of the Maxwell High School of Technology at 990 McElvaney Lane in Lawrenceville. It is open to all high school students from GCPS, their parents and guardians.

CTE courses are designed to prepare students for a wide range of career and educational opportunities, including industry-recognized credentials, postsecondary certificates, and two- and four-year degrees. CTE prepares students to be college-and career-ready.

More than 50 CTE organizations will be present during the fair, including the Aviation Institute of Maintenance, the University of Georgia, CISCO, the Process Institute of Cosmetology, Le Cordon Bleu, Gwinnett Technical College and the Art Institutes as well as others.

GCPS students are able to enroll in Career and Technical Education in their junior or senior year. All GCPS high schools offer Career and Technical education classes. Additional specialized programs are offered through the Grayson High Technical Education Program on the Grayson High campus and Maxwell High School of Technology.
