In its fifth year of accepting applications, GSMST has more than doubled its number of applicants, according to a press release issued by Gwinnett County Public Schools. As of the school system’s Feb. 4, deadline, 611 applications had been received from current eighth grade students seeking admission next fall. The school only will accept 300 students for next year’s freshman class.

The deadline for registrations was extended twice to allow for the inclement weather that hit Atlanta in January and to ensure students and parents had an opportunity to tak advantage of a streamlined application process.

GSMST applicants have been assigned a lottery number and notified by email of their number, the lottery time, date, and location.
