Pioneer School at McDaniel Farm

Saturday, September 22Β  10:30am - 1:30pm

What was school like back in the good ole' days before computers, closed circuit television, and washable magic markers? Come experience a traditional school day in a one room school house, circa 1875. Our school marm will teach the 3 Rs with a good dose of recitation, spelling bees, chores and games. Bring your sack lunch and get ready for some good old fashioned fun (shoes optional). Rain or shine, there will be plenty of learning, games, and fun for every age. Note: We encourage everyone to get into the spirit of the day by wearing period dress or overalls. A typical lunch might include a slice of brown bread, some homemade butter or jam, a hardboiled egg and an apple packed in a lunch bucket or tied up in a napkin. We will supply the fresh, ice cold "well" water. Parents are welcome to stay and observe from outside the school house.
