Duluth Students Competing in GCPS Spelling Bee

Nearly 90 students will compete in the Gwinnett County Public Schools spelling bee Saturday, Feb. 2.

Nearly 90 Gwinnett students, including the best spellers at Duluth elementary and middle schools, will compete at the county spelling bee this Saturday, Feb. 2.

Students competing Saturday are the spelling bee champions from their local elementary and middle schools. There are a total of 88 schools with representatives at the Gwinnett County Public Schools competition.

The spelling bee will take place at Central Gwinnett High, located at 564 W. Crogan Street in Lawrenceville. It is sponsored by the Gwinnett County Association of Educators.

Student participants will register from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. At 8:30 a.m., the local school spelling winners will first compete in a written spelling bee contest.

The top 12 spellers from the written bee then will compete in the public oral bee. Last year's bee produced a three-time winner Asad Ladhani, a student at North Gwinnett Middle School.
