David Jones Named Mason Elementary Principal

Veteran GCPS educator will replace current Principal Paula DeWeese, who is retiring at the end of November.

David Jones, currently an assistant principal at Shiloh Elementary, has been named principal of Mason Elementary School in Duluth.

Jones will assume principal duties at Mason ES when veteran Principal Paula DeWeese retires at the end of November.

The Gwinnett County Board of Education approved Jones’ appointment during its monthly November member.

Jones has more than 15 years experience in Gwinnett County Public Schools at the elementary level. He has served as assistant principal at Shiloh ES since 2010. He also worked as a teacher at Rockbridge Elementary and Craig Elementary.

He holds bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration-Finance and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University. He also earned certification in Educational Leadership from North Georgia College & State University.

Jones is currently a member in the 2013 Cohort of the GCPS Quality-Plus Leader Academy, Aspiring Principal Program.

Mason ES is in the Peachtree Ridge Cluster, but serves many students from Duluth.
