Work This Weekend on SR 316 to Cause Delays

One lane of SR 316 East will close from 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, and one lane of SR 316 West will close Saturday, Oct. 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Duluth residents heading out of town this weekend may want to find alternate routes to SR 316 and Interstate 85 North.

Weekend work on State Route 316/University Parkway from Interstate 85 to Sugarloaf Parkway is expected to cause delays for motorists and impact I-85 northbound traffic, according to an announcement by the Gwinnett County Department of Transportation. Drivers are advised to avoid this area of SR 316 and I-85 this weekend.

One lane of SR 316 East will close from 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, and one lane of SR 316 West will close on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Gwinnett County is resurfacing SR 316 from I-85 to Sugarloaf Parkway. Contractor C.W. Matthews will remove old asphalt, lay new asphalt and stripe the lanes. Work crews will also add a third lane to SR 316 East from I-85 to Sugarloaf Parkway to relieve congestion. The third lane is expected to open in approximately one week.Β
