Wondering who the highest paid public officials in Gwinnett County are? Here's some indication.

According to a database compiled by 11alive.com, Gwinnett County school board chief Alvin Wilbanks is atop the list, with an annual salary of about $414,000.

No one else from Gwinnett County or its cities is among the state's top 100 earners, based on 11alive.com figures.

Other salaries of note in Gwinnett: Police Chief Charles Walters ($177,914), Fire Chief Casey Snyder ($177,914), and Finance Director Maria Woods ($203,106).

According to Alisa Williams, public information officer with the City of Duluth, the following are salaries for Duluth officials:

City manager: $126,072 + $5,200 car; municipal court judge: $107,244; police chief: $122,408; planning & development director: $91,353; IT director: $74,276; recreation director: $72,862 mayor: $ 9,600.

"Public official" would be someone who is on a public payroll, such as a city, county or state agency. That would not necessarily mean an elected official, who holds office by virtue of a popular vote.

Note: Information provided by the City of Duluth was included, and would supersede figures provided by 11alive.com.
