Tuesday Last Day to Register to Vote in 2012 Election

If you are not yet registered to vote, Oct. 9 is the last chance before the Nov. 6 General Election.

If you haven’t yet registered to vote, you might want to get it off your to-do list today.

Six million people didn’t vote in the 2008 elections because they either did not know how to register or because they missed the voter registration deadline.

If you are a Gwinnett County resident, here’s how you can register in time for the Nov. 6 General Election:

  • Fill out a voter registration form in person at the the Gwinnett County Voter Registration and Elections Office which is located at 455 Grayson Highway, Suite 200, in Lawrenceville, GA 30046 (in the Town Center shopping center).

The office is open for general business Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. For more information, call the Elections Office at 678-226-7210.

To register to vote in Georgia, you must be:

  • A citizen of the United States
  • A legal resident of Georgia and of the county in which you wish to vote
  • At least 18 years old by Election Day

Complete information about voter registration, ID Requirements, polling places and candidate information for Gwinnett County voters can be found on the Gwinnett County Elections Office website.

Individuals currently serving any sentence imposed by the conviction of a felony or judicially determined to be mentally incompetent are not eligible to register to vote.

Registered voters may request an absentee ballot by mail up to 180 days prior to any election; ballots will begin being mailed by Sept. 21.

Early voting starts Oct. 15:

Voters may cast their ballots in person from Oct. 15 to Nov. 2, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5p.m. at the Gwinnett County Voter Registration and Elections Office. Saturday voting will also be available at the elections office on Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For the convenience of voters, satellite offices will be open Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Oct. 29-Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 7p.m. at the Centerville Community Center in Snellville, George Pierce Park Community Recreation Center in Suwanee, Dacula Park Activity Building in Dacula, and Lucky Shoals Park Community Recreation Center in Norcross.
