Trash Fees Going Up for Gwinnett County Residents

30-cent a month increase to go into effect with 2012 annual billing cycle. Total amount of $217.92 included on property tax bills.

The county-mandated garbage collection plan will be more expensive in 2012 for Gwinnett County residents.

The new rate of $18.16 per month -- a 30 cent per month increase over the current rate -- will go into effect in 2012. The total amount  included on a 2011 property tax bill is $217.92.

The fee increase was calculated from increases in the consumer price index and rising fuel prices. According to a statement released by Gwinnett County: “Even with the small monthly increase, residents will notice a substantial reduction in the total solid waste fee charged on the tax bills since they will only be billed for 12 months instead of 18.”
