New Traffic Signal to Flash

A new traffic signal will begin flashing Thursday, Feb. 28, at the intersection of State Route 120/Duluth Highway and Meadowbrook Parkway/Legacy Parkway in unincorporated Duluth.

The traffic signal will be in flash mode for testing. If weather permits and testing goes well, the signal will be fully operational Thursday, March 7, Teri Pope, communications officer for District One-Northeast Georgia of the Georgia Department of Transportation, announced in a press release. 

An analysis of traffic at the intersection demonstrated the need for a signal, Pope said. The intersection met federal requirements for a traffic signal, so it is being installed, she said.

GDOT paid for installation, and Gwinnett County will maintain the signal, Pope said. 

Georgia DOT District Traffic Engineer Scott Zehngraff urged motorists to reduce speed at the intersection in the press release. “Please slow down through the area while crews finish their work. Once the signal is operational, be cautious until you get familiar with the changes,” he said.
