Strong to Severe Thunderstorms Predicted Thursday

National Weather Service issues Hazardous Weather Outlook for Duluth, Gwinnett County.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook is in effect for Duluth and Gwinnett County Thursday (April 11) afternoon through Thursday night. The National Weather Service forecasts strong to severe thunderstorms as a cold front pushes across Georgia.

The thunderstorms are expected to develop along and ahead of the cold front. Although damaging winds will be the main threat, tornadoes and large hail also are possible. The bad weather is expected to arrive in the metro Atlanta area by mid-evening. Wind gusts of 15 to 20 m.p.h. estimated.

Rainfall amounts could be heavy at times with one to two inches of widespread rain predicted. There could be brief minor flooding of steams and rivers and low-lying areas.
