State Senator Co-hosting Town Hall on HOT Lanes

Town Hall meeting in response to record number of emails and telephone calls about the new high-occupancy toll lanes.

State Sen. Curt Thompson (D-Tucker) will be co-hosting a town hall meeting to hear feedback on the Interstate-85 HOT Lane project from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17.

Thompson said in a recent press release that he has received a record number of emails and phone calls about the new high-occupancy toll lanes.

"I want to ensure these people are being heard,” Thompson reported. “We are looking for constructive criticism that can be used to ease congestion problems on Interstate 85.”

The town hall, which will be co-hosted by State Sen. Renee Unterman (R-Buford), will be held in the main auditorium of the . in Lawrenceville.

State Road and Toll Authority officials and Georgia Department of Transportation representatives will give brief comments, as will both of the senators. The floor will then be open to the public for comments and questions. “Verbal attacks or insults towards town hall participants will not be tolerated,” the release stated.

Thompson's District 5 encompasses parts of DeKalb and Gwinnett counties,  including a portion of unincorporated Gwinnett with Duluth addresses in the Gwinnett Place Mall area.
