UPDATED: State of City Address Coming Soon in Duluth

Mayor Harris will make the 2014 speech at the February City Council meeting.

Among other things, the new year will mean a significant statement from Duluth's mayor.

Mayor Nancy Harris will give the State of the City address as part of the February City Council meeting, according to city officials.

The address comes at a time when city officials are beginning to move on an ambitious Downtown Master Plan.

Also, it comes at a time when the city is without a day-to-day chief executive at City Hall. Former City Manager Tim Shearer was dismissed by the council in October, and a search is under way for his replacement.

The January City Council meeting will be Monday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m. at City Hall. On this council agenda is election of a mayor pro tem, the person who performs mayoral duties in the mayor's absence. Marsha Anderson Bomar currently holds that post.

Note: This article has been updated to reflect the correct date of the State Of The City address.
