This free event is open to the public. The Recycling Division is accepting electronics and tires for recycling and accepting documents for shredding. There is a limit of eight tires per vehicle (no dealer tires), and there is a $10 cash fee for TVs. For a list of acceptable electronics, view the pdf list accompanying this article.

The day includes touch-a-truck, children's activities, a relay race, giveaways, and free food while supplies last.

Recyclers are encourged to bring canned foods to fill local Salvation Army shelves for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

"This event emphasizes the importance of environmental sustainability for the future of Gwinnett County, in addition to giving back to those in need," said Tom Keith, Solid Waste Division director, in announcing the event. For more information, visit www.sustainablegwinnett.com.

Volunteers are needed and will be assigned to work from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Contact Schelly Marlatt at Schelly.marlatt@gwinnettcounty.com to sign up as a volunteer.
