Overnight Ga. Hwy. 120 Resurfacing Started Monday

Project includes 6.8 miles from Chattahoochee River to Atkinson Road in Duluth.

Resurfacing 6.8 miles of Ga. Hwy. 120 from the Chattahoochee River to Atkinson Road in Duluth started Monday (March 14) night and continues through July, the Georgia Department of Transporation announced. The project also includes reconstructing the road shoulders.

The work is scheduled for overnights only, according to the announcement. Flaggers will be utilized to allow traffic to flow through the work zone. On weeknights crews can implement lane closures on Ga. Hwy. 120 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next day. Lane closures are allowed from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

“Monday evening, crews will begin by removing deeply damaged sections of asphalt and patching those locations. Work will begin at the intersection with Sugarloaf Parkway and will move towards downtown Duluth. Patching the entire section will take about two weeks. Then crews will resurface the entire length of the project. Please avoid the area if possible,” said GDOT Construction Engineer Randall Davis.
