Duluth L.E.A.D. Academy offers opportunities for citizens to learn about government and become involved in city, community.

Want to learn more about the city where you live? Duluth is now accepting applications for its fifth annual L.E.A.D. (Learn, Engage, Advance Duluth) Academy.

L.E.A.D. is a program that offers a way for citizens to become knowledgeable about city operations, services, and the overall essential functions of municipal government, according to a press release announcing the upcoming class.Β 

In addition to providing information about city services, programs and responsibilities, citizens casually interact with elected officials and city staff. Participants are afforded the opportunity to ask questions and gain a better understanding of Duluth government and their role in local government.

The leadership program encourages citizens to become engaged in government operations and participate by serving on various boards and committees and explore other opportunities in the community and in the city to become involved.

A six-week program, the L.E.A.D. Academy meets from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays starting Sept. 25 and continuing through Oct. 30.
