"Neither one of them have a dog in the fight other than to do what's best for Gwinnett County," Lasseter said.

earlier in October when the board also authorized its consultants Infrastructure Management Group (IMG) to begin assisting the county with the RFP (request for proposals) process for companies interested in running Briscoe Field as a general aviation airport. The board scrapped previously submitted RFQs (requests for qualifications) for airport operators that had been submitted by companies interested in privatizing and commercializing the airport. Three companies had submitted qualifications.

No meeting date has been set by the panel, and the county is not sure when it formally will issue the RFP. Commissioners currently are thinking of continuing to operate the county-owned airport in Lawrenceville as a general aviation airport. Commercial passenger service could be proposed by a potential operator as part of a long-term vision.
