Gingrich to Exit Race Next Week

Fox News is reporting that sources inside his campaign say presidential candidate Newt Gingrich will end his campaign next week.

After losing big to Tuesday, plans to formally leave the Republican presidental race next week, according to Fox news.

It is also reported that he will "more than likely," endorse Romney when he makes the announcement. The decision comes on the heals of Romney sweeping the five primaries Tuesday, making it statistically impossible for Gingrich to prevent him for garnering the 1,144 delegates needed to secure the nomination.

He is expected to complete his North Carolina schedule next week before making the formal announcement on Tuesday.

Gingrich, as a native son, was the popular choice in the March 6 primary in Georgia. Gwinnettians as well as Walton County residents supported him over other candidates. Statewide Gingrich garnered 47.4 percent of the vote. The former Speaker of the House had considered winning in his home state crucial to his campaign. However, he didn't manage to keep up the momentum and, for all intents and purposes, Romney is now the presumtive Republican presidential nominee.

So Duluth: Do you think Georgians will now get behind Mitt Romney?
