Primary Gateway Sign, More Wayfinding Signs Approved for Duluth

Bunten Road Park, other city parks to get new signage.

Duluth will get a primary gateway sign, three pedestrian kiosks and other signs under Phase 3 of its wayfinding sign program. The large gateway sign would be located at Pleasant Hill Road and the Chattahoochee River.

The city signs plus new park signs will be installed by Image Manufacturing Group, which completed the initial phases of the city’s wayfinding installation.Β

The Duluth City Council approved paying $346,246 at its Monday (Aug. 12) meeting to IMG for Phase 3, which includes $200,000 for city wayfinding signs and $146,246 for park signs.

All the signs were designed by Sky Design.

At the recommendation of city staff, the council awarded a contract totaling $888,662 to IMG to complete the sign program. This includes the $346,246.

The remainder of the signs including secondary gateway signs would be approved as funding becomes available.

Awarding the entire package to IMG fixes the sign prices.

The city signs are being funded by proceeds from the motor vehicle rental tax.

The council also approved $20,000 for additional tree lighting along Main Street at Taylor Park and in front of the Mathias Building.
