Friday Overnight Work Planned on Ga. Hwy. 316

Project to improve traffic congestion merging from Boggs Road/Pleasant Hill North to SR 316 East.

One or two lanes of Ga. Hwy 316/University Parkway from Interstate 85 to Sugarloaf Parkway will be closed at a time to allow resurfacing eastbound from Herrington Road to Sugarloaf Parkway Friday night, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced. The closings will start at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, and continue overnight until 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6.

The resurfacing is being done by C.W. Matthews, a contractor hired by Gwinnett County. The contractor will remove old asphalt, replace it with new asphalt and stripe the lanes.

The project will extend the ramp from Boggs Road/Pleasant Hill northbound to SR 316 east to Sugarloaf Parkway. β€œThis extension will give motorists more room to merge into SR 316. It is a valuable operational improvement and will help weekday congestion in the area,” said Georgia DOT District Engineer Todd McDuffie in the announcement.Β
