U.S. Flag Flown in Iraq Presented to Gov. Deal

Framed flag and certificate expresses appreciation for Georgia's support of fallen and wounded Special Forces troops.

Β

U.S. Army Special Forces Sgt. Maj. Jack Nevile Nevils recently sent a U.S. Flag that he carried on a mission and flew at his Forward Operating Base in Iraq to Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal and Georgia First Lady Sandra Deal. The flag expresses Nevils’ appreciation to his home state for supporting his fellow fallen and wounded Special Operations troops. Volunteers with Operation One Voice (OOV) and representatives of corporate sponsor Eagle Rock Distributing Co. presented the flag after it completed its 6,746-mile journey from Iraq to Atlanta and a certificate at the State Capitol.

In addition, Gov. and Mrs. Deal were given two Special Forces challenge coins from the 2011 Honor Ride that honored SFC. Leroy Petry and the 2011 Special Operations Forces Run that honored fallen Medal of Honor recipient SSgt. Robbie Miller.Β
