Duluth FY2012 Budget Wins Award

City's budget given a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.

 

Duluth’s current budget has been given a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) recognized the city for its annual budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2011, through June 30, 2012.

This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting, according to an announcement by the city.

In order to earn this award, a governmental unit must publish a budget document that meets criteria as a policy document, as an operations guide, as a financial plan, and as a communications device. Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all categories, and 14 mandatory criteria within those categories.

A certificate of recognition for the award has been presented to Duluth Finance Manager Ken Sakmar.
