Duluth Election: Both Council Posts Face Runoffs

Voting results (labeled unofficial) are in for City Council races.

Both contested Duluth City Council posts could face runoff elections, based on unofficial returns Tuesday (Nov. 5).

According to the voting results posted on the city website, Post 1 incumbent Marsha Anderson Bomar received 47 percent of the votes cast. Post 2 incumbent Jim Dugan received 40 percent of the votes cast.

A runoff election will be held if no candidate receives 50 percent plus one of the votes cast.

The Post 1 breakdown: Bomar, 541 votes; David Cossette, 391 votes (34 percent); Louis Tseng, 214 votes (18 percent).

The Post 2 breakdown: Dugan, 473 votes (40.9 percent); Seth Grey, 346 votes (29.9 percent); Kirkland Carden, 337 votes (29.1 percent).

A runoff election would be held Tuesday, Dec. 3. The two candidates with the highest vote totals would compete in the runoffs.
