Duluth City Manager Search Continues

City officials have applicants to be the new administrator.

Duluth officials are continuing the process of finding a new city manager.

Approximately "10 or less" people have applied for the job of being the city's day-to-day CEO, according to Ed Johnson of the city's human resources department. City Council members received a briefing Monday (Oct. 28) on the situation.

The position came open when the city's elected leaders terminated the contract of Tim Shearer in early October. No reason was given for the dismissal, although Mayor Nancy Harris said later that there was no wrongdoing by Shearer.

Council members Billy Jones and Kelly Kelkenberg will handle screening the applicants. The job posting closes on Nov. 18, and the job carries a salary range of $112,000 to $130,000 annually.

The timeline remains at April 1 for having the job filled.

The complete job posting is on the city website.
