Duluth Adopts Official City Events List for 2012

Popular Block Parties and Flicks on the Bricks return along with traditional events.

 

A list of 2012 official city events adopted by the Duluth City Council Monday (March 12) continues the Block Parties on the Duluth Town Green started last year as well as traditional events such as the Barefoot in the Park Fine Arts Festival, Memorial Day Service, Duluth Celebrates America, Duluth Fall Festival, Halloween on the Green, Tree Lighting and New Year’s Eve Celebration. The popular family-oriented Flicks on the Bricks movie series also returns.

Events on the list are either sponsored or co-sponsored by the city. The asterisk indicates that alcoholic beverages will be allowed in the designated Red Zone downtown or at other venues.

The following are scheduled events so far:

  • April 21 – Atlanta Braves Game* on the Big Screen
  • May 4 & 5 – Barefoot in the Park*
  • May 18 – All City Faith Event
  • May 26 – Memorial Day Service
  • June 9 – Flicks on the Bricks
  • June 21 – Block Party (Duluth Idol & DJ)*
  • June 30 – Fall Festival 30 Year Celebration*
  • July 3  – Duluth Celebrates America* (Scott Hudgens Park)
  • July 14 – Flicks on the Bricks
  • July 19 – Block Party (Beach Party)*
  • July 27 - Summer Concert*
  • August 5 – National Kids Day Festival
  • August 11 – Flicks on the Bricks
  • August 16 – Block Party (Country/Chili Cook-off)*
  • August 25 – Music Festival*
  • September 22 – Fall Festival Concert*
  • September 29 & 30 – Fall Festival*
  • October 7 – Chattapoochee Pet Fest (Chattapoochee Dog Park)
  • October 20 – Octoberfest*
  • October 27 – Halloween on the Green
  • December 1 – Tree Lighting
  • December 31 – New Year’s Eve*
