The Duluth City Council at its Dec. 12 meeting awarded a contract to build the center to Renaissance Building Construction in the amount of $548,458. The construction bid amount came in low enough that there should be enough budgeted funds left over to furnish and equip the center, Marelle said.

The 2,400-square-foot center was designed by the Duluth-based architectural and eingineering firm of Hill Foley Rossi and Associates.
