Application Deadline Extended for Duluth Public Arts Commission

The commission would be involved in promoting performing arts and acquiring public art for the city.

The deadline to apply to fill nine positions on the proposed Duluth Public Arts Commission has been extended from July 15 to Aug. 15.

The proposed DPAC, composed of arts professionals and others, would have three primary goals:

  • To promote the training, development and performance of performing arts
  • To maintain the city’s existing public art collection
  • To commission, acquire and exhibit new public works of art

The requirements, description and application for the DPAC can be found at www.duluthga.net/community/get_7involved/boards_and_commissions.php.

Completed applications should be submitted to the Duluth city manager’s office at City Hall.

The commission would be separate from the Gateway Art Project Committee, which was formed and specifically charged with selecting an artist and commissioning a sculpture in the center of the Duluth Roundabout.
