1. This can’t be worth the risk, can it? A man was arrested at a Stone Mountain-area Walmart and taken to jail for trying to walk out of the store wearing stolen shoes and carrying a stolen bottle of milk.

2. A Winder woman trying to avoid arrest for an outstanding warrant tried to keep a Barrow County Sheriff’s deputy out of the storage room in which she was hiding by holding on to the unlocked door knob. She wasn’t successful. "As I turned the knob I felt someone turn it back," the deputy wrote in the incident report.

3. The manager of a Subway in Johns Creek told police a man carrying several large bags entered the business and started screaming profanities at the occupants. Then he walked out the door.

4. An Athens woman will probably be more careful in selecting “friends” on Facebook. According to the police report, the woman said she accepted a friend request from a stranger and sometime later started receiving messages with nude pictures of herself. She told police she didn’t know how the “friend” got the pictures. She said she had never sent any such photos to anyone before.

5. You gotta watch where you point that thing. A Dacula woman who flipped off another motorist after the two nearly collided on Hamilton Mill Parkway told Gwinnett Police that the man followed her home, called her a “stupid idiot” and threatened to kill her. The woman said the man almost crashed into her car, then pulled up next to her and started swearing at her. After she responded with the middle finger, she said he followed her home. The man told police he thought the woman was driving drunk, so he decided to confront her.

6. Athens-Clarke County Police tracked down a man who was suspected of stealing money from the tip jar from Fuzzy’s Tacos early one Friday morning. Fuzzy’s employees reported that a man stole the tip money — approximately $40 — around 1:30 a.m. while his friend was paying the bill. He was found later with his buddy at a night club. He had $8 in ones, but denied stealing any money.

7. A burglar stole $1,500 worth of cigarettes from a Buford store, but it was the $10 in winning lottery tickets he took that might get him pinched. The store didn’t have a surveillance camera, but the gas station where he cashed in the tickets did. Using ticket data from the Georgia Lottery Corporation, police now have video showing the suspect, and even his red pickup truck.

8. Was this the getaway car? A woman was arrested and charged with theft by receiving after she was found in a white Toyota Camry with a pillowcase full of items stolen from a Norcross-area home burglary. The car was parked right outside the burglarized residence. Earlier, police received a call about two men seen coming out of the house and then leaving in a white car. Then the car came back. The woman said she was alone and made up several stories on why she was there.

9. Another one from the “people will steal anything” department: Two recycled clothing collection bins were recently taken from the parking lot of an Oconee County Home Depot. They’re worth $900 each.

10. A Sugar Hill man told police he thought an obscene image spray-painted on his car was the work of a troublesome neighbor. The man approached his car one Saturday morning and saw the vandalism — the letter “I,” followed by a heart symbol and then an image of a male body part — all spray-painted on the passenger side of the car. The neighbor denied the accusation and suggested that teens in the area may be the culprits.

11. An Athens woman suspected that it was her recent ex-boyfriend who tried to set her car on fire by stuffing one end of a towel in the fuel tank and lighting the other end.
