Severe Weather: First Wave of Storms Downed Trees, Power Lines in Gwinnett

No injuries reported, but Gwinnett Fire crews were kept busy Tuesday morning.

The first round of strong thunderstorms downed trees and power lines as it roared through Gwinnett County Tuesday morning.

Here’s a synopsis of Gwinnett Fire calls during the height of the storm:

Trees down on houses
  • Firefighters responded at 6:12 a.m. to a report of a tree down on a house at 2130 Carysle Park Lane, NW in Lawrenceville.  Crews found a tree down and damage to the gutters on arrival.  Occupants were home at the time and no injuries were reported.
  • Firefighters responded at 6:55 a.m. to a report of a tree down on a house at 758 Edgeley Lane, SW in Lawrenceville.  The tree fell over the back deck and roof of a two-story house.  The tree caused significant damage to the deck and penetrated the roof and wall on the back of the house.  Occupants were home at the time and no injuries were reported.
  • Firefighters responded at 7:05 a.m. to a report of a tree down on a house at 4921 Norman Drive, NW in Lilburn.  Crews found a large tree leaning on the roof with penetration into the attic and second floor living space.  Occupants were home at the time and no injuries were reported.
  • Firefighters responded at 7:13 a.m. to a report of a tree down on a house at 3130 Linden Drive, NW in Lawrenceville.  Crews found a tree leaning on the side of the house on arrival.  There appeared to be no structural damage and no penetration inside the house.  Occupants were home at the time and no injuries were reported.
  • Firefighters responded at 7:31a.m. to a report of a tree down on a house at 1904 Suwanee Terrace, NW in Lawrenceville.  Crews found a large tree limb down on the roof.  The limb caused minimal damage to roof shingles over the front porch area.  There was no damage to the structure.  Occupants were home at the time and no injuries were reported.
  • Firefighters responded at 7:49 a.m. to a report of a tree down on a house at 4958 Elizabeth Way, NW in Lilburn.  Crews found a large tree down on the right side of the home.  The tree pulled down the electrical service line and caused damage to the garage area.  Occupants were home at the time and no injuries were reported.
  • Firefighters responded at 9:17 a.m. to a report of a tree down on a house at 2018 McDaniels Bridge Road, SW in Lilburn.  Crews found a tree down with penetration into the attic and living space.  No injuries were reported.

  • 6:01 a.m.  Lester Road, NW at Lawrenceville Highway in Lawrenceville.
  • 6:06 a.m.  72 Towler Toad, NW in Lawrenceville.
  • 7:03 a.m.  Howell Ferry Road, NW near Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth.
  • 7:26 a.m.  Drowning Creek Road, SE near Highway 316 in Dacula.
  • 8:00 a.m.  Valley Drive, SW near Dorsey Circle in Lilburn.
  • 8:19 a.m.  Hamilton Mill Road, NE near West Rock Quarry Road in Buford.
  • 8:44 a.m.  252 Linda Drive, NW in Tucker.
  • 9:47 a.m.  2320 Kilgore Road, NE in Buford.

Fire officials will be monitoring weather conditions throughout the day and night as the threat for severe weather continues.
