Motorcyclist Dies From Accident Injuries

Driver of van involved in collision charged with second-degree vehicular homicide.

Gwinnett County Police charged the driver of the van involved in a fatal collision with a motorcycle last Friday (April 29) at Old Norcross and Boggs roads in unincorporated Lawrenceville with second-degree vehicular homicide, driving without a valid driver’s license and failure to yield while turning left, according to Cpl. Edwin Ritter. The driver, identified as Luis A. Zetino-Boch, 21, of Duluth, was transported to Gwinnett County Jail.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Zetino-Boch was eastbound in the left turn lane of Old Norcross Road at Boggs Road. He was driving a white 2001 Ford Econoline van. Andrea E. Sampson, 26, of Lawrenceville was westbound in the right lane of Old Norcross Road and Boggs Road riding a black 2005 Yamaha R6.

Ritter reported May 2 that the driver of the van turned left onto Boggs Road in front of the motorcyclist, who had the right of way. The motorcyclist was unable to stop to avoid collision and struck the right side of the van. The accident occurred about 7:57 a.m. Friday.
