Gwinnett Police Seeking Repeat Burger King Bandit

Suspect may have robbed 20 different Burger Kings, along with several KFCs and Taco Bells.

Gwinnett County Police say that in the past three months approximately 20 Burger King restaurants have been held up at gunpoint in the metro Atlanta area, about six of them in Gwinnett.

Through comparing surveillance footage and witness accounts, they believe the same man is responsible for the robberies, along with hold-ups of multiple KFCs and Taco Bells.

They are now seeking the public’s help in locating the man, who they describe as a dark-skinned black male with a muscular build, approximately 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall. He has a short haircut and wears diamond earrings.

The man usually comes into the restaurants early in the morning while employees are setting up, according to Gwinnett Police Det. Brendon Hix. The suspect drives a two-toned black and grey Buick Regal GS, which has been seen leaving multiple robbery locations.

He usually heads to the bathroom to put on a mask before robbing the restaurants, said Hix. He has threatened employees with a large black gun, but no injuries have been reported in the cases so far. "We are looking into one case where one round was shot into the ceiling," he said.

The crime trend started in late April, according to the detective, with the robber taking off with between $300 and $1,000 from each restaurant. He said that the image released today is the first time they have been able to see him without a mask.

Burger King corporate is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information should contact the Gwinnett County Police Department at 770-513-5300.
