Gwinnett Police Offer Safe Driving Classes for Teens

Duluth parents may register for upcoming classes designed for new teen drivers at West Precinct.

TheΒ Gwinnett County Police Department is offering free classes for new teen drivers and their parents.

The P.R.I.D.E. program is a national award winning, two-hour course designed to help parents with their teen drivers ages 14-16. The course teaches what new drivers need to learn during their 40 hours of supervised practice. Officers instruct parents and teens on what to expect while driving. No behind-the-wheel training is included.

Classes will occur April 25 and May 25 at the West Precinct, which is located at 6160 Crescent Drive near the interesection of Jimmy Carter Boulevard and I-85.

In addition to the P.R.I.D.E. program, Crime Prevention officers also offer a free 45-minute class for teens called Traffic Safety for Teens.

The focus of this class is to provide information to help reduce teen crashes. topics include crash dynamics, seat belts, speeding, alcohol, distractions (i.e. cell phones and texting), road rules and street signs.
