Holiday Task Force Activated

Gwinnett Police Holiday Task Force to provide high-visibility police presence throughout county with a focus on commercial areas and in the high-volume retail shopping areas.

 

The Gwinnett County Police Department announced it will operate its Holiday Task Force starting Black Friday (Nov. 25) through New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31) to ensure residents and visitors have a safe and happy holiday.

“The purpose of the task force will be to provide additional visible police presence throughout Gwinnett County with a focus on commercial areas and in the high-volume retail shopping areas during the holiday season,” Cpl. Edwin Ritter explained in the announcement. “The Task Force will utilize every resource available with all efforts being aimed at making our citizens safer,” he said.

The Task Force will be highly visible in and around Gwinnett Place Mall, Discover Mills Mall, The Mall of Georgia, the Hamilton Mill/I-85 corridor, Stone Mountain Highway and the Scenic Highway/SR 124 corridor, Ritter said.

Gwinnett Police officers will be available for any calls for service and will conduct high visibility traffic enforcement. In addition, the police department will be conducting safety road checks with Traffic and DUI Units at various times and locations, he said.

 “The Gwinnett County Police Department would like to remind everyone to stay vigilant and be aware of their surroundings, Ritter said. “Be aware of any unscrupulous people aiming to take advantage of unsuspecting people. Every member of this department will do its best to ensure a safe holiday for all Gwinnett County citizens and visitors.”
