Gwinnett Firefighters Collect $52,158 in Boot Drive
Funds collected donated to Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation to help severe burn victims.
Gwinnett County firefighters collected a total of $52,158 for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation during last month's "Give Burns the Boot" drive. More than 100 fire departments across the state participated in the 21st annual boot drive.
Donations help citizens and firefighters who have suffered a severe burn injury. Ten percent of the proceeds are returned to the department in the form of smoke alarms and educational materials used to support fire and life safety programs within the community.
Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services Chief Bill Myers expressed appreciation to those who participated in the boot drive. “The amount of money donated by Gwinnett County residents demonstrates public support of our department and an overall commitment to providing a fire safe community,” Myers said in an announcement on boot drive results.
