Fire Destroys Hinesville Home

Two people, dog survive blaze

One man was left hospitalized after a Hinesville home was destroyed in a fire early Friday morning, according to a WSAV report.

Two people were inside the Elm Street home when the fire started, according to WSAV. One, a 15-year-old girl, was able to escape through a window. The girl's uncle apparently lost consciousness and was rescued by firefighters. He was taken to Savannah's Memorial University Medical Center to be treated for smoke inhalation, WSAV reported.

The family dog also survived the blaze, despite being trapped for about three hours before he could be rescued, according to WSAV.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
