Fire Heavily Damages Home on Pine Needle Drive

Homeowners were out of town when the fire occurred early Monday morning.

A fire heavily damaged a home in the 3900 block of Pine Needle Drive in Duluth early Monday while the residents were out of town. No injuries occurred.

A neighbor called 911 reporting a fire showing in the laundry room. Upon arrival Gwinnett fire crews found fire and heavy smoke throughout the structure, Lt. Colin S. Rhoden reported in a press release. Firefighters battled the fire from the outside of the house until flames were knocked down enough to enter the structure.

The mass of the fire was in the room behind the carport. The fire caused substantial fire damage to the structure and a collapse in the room that had the majority of fire involvement, Rhoden said.
