Duluth Man Facing Statutory Rape, Other Charges

The victim had run away from home, according to police.

A Duluth man is being held without bond in Gwinnett County after he allegedly had sex with a teen girl with whom he had previously had illegal cell phone communications, according to police.

Alan Derek Jimenez of a Wesley Plantation Drive address was booked into the Gwinnett Detention Center on Dec. 11, according to jail records. Charges include statutory rape and electronic transmission of obscene material to a minor.

According to Duluth Police records, the victim was a student who had run away from home in October. The runaway incident occurred a day after the victim's mother discovered pornographic pictures of the suspect on her daughter's cell phone.

According to police, the victim said she and the suspect had consensual sex several times. The victim stayed with the suspect and his family at their residence, according to police.

Eventually, the victim left the residence and stayed at another residence nearby, according to police. The victim then moved around, and was found by police in another Gwinnett city in November. A lookout had been issued by Duluth Police.

The victim had become acquainted with the suspect through a friend/classmate who had been a babysitter for the suspect's children, according to police.

The victim and the suspect had been texting and exchanging nude photographs via cell phone since the end of September 2013, according to the incident report.

This information comes from Duluth Police and the Gwinnett Sheriff's Office. It does not indicate a conviction. Questions should be directed to duluth@patch.com.
