Columnist Criticizes WSB Radio for Adding Limbaugh

The controversial radio talk-show host joins the Atlanta station's lineup, and Clark Howard is moved to another time slot.

Controversial talk-show host Rush Limbaugh is never lacking for an audience, and now he will have more exposure in Atlanta. One prominent Gwinnett voice does not like the move.

WSB-AM and 95.5 FM Radio, two of Atlanta's best known stations, announced this week that Limbaugh willl be joining the lineup effective Monday, Oct. 1.

Not surprisingly, the move has met with strong reaction -- negative in the case of longtime Gwinnett journalist and newsletter publisher Elliott Brack.

It its latest issue, Brack's Gwinnett Forum said WSB "seems desperate" for adding Limbaugh to its lineup.

"In other words, their move is toward a lower common denominator...."

-- Elliott Brack, writing in Gwinnett Forum

"The station seems more and more geared toward the right wing elements of society in the line-up of its media personalities. In other words, their move is toward a lower common denominator....," Brack wrote.

The Gwinnett Forum piece also criticized moving Clark Howard, the highly prominent consumer advocate, to a later time slot.

WSB, of course, will be losing longtime talk-show host Neal Boortz, who has announced his retirement effective in 2013.

Brack is a former publisher of the Gwinnett edition of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The AJC, like WSB, is owned by Cox Enterprises.

Anyone who listens this drivel loses IQ points. If you want to be completely misinformed listen to WSB.

I feel so sorry for people who have facts and truth right in front of them and they think their informed and the smartest person in the room . So sad

Great move WSB!!

wsb has a loaded gun and has shot themself in the foot, both feet. Who wants to listen to one sided politics all day long? If these talk show host would be open minded and talk about who is really wrong, regardless of Jack Ass or Elephant, then it might be worth listening to. Boortz, Limbaugh and Hannity are all one sided and can not talk about anything other than bashing one side or one person. Being open minded is much more intelligent than being able to only see one side. I wish they would start a campaign to get rid of every Congressman and Senator in office because they are the ones who are ruining this country. And Clark Howard, no one is going to listen to his show at 8PM unless they are working somewhere where they have access to a radio. People at home that time of night are with family or watching TV (even though it's hard to find something worth watching most days). I think WSB made a big mistake. Politicans are nothing but legal criminals and who cares about them!

I see something a little sad. As good as Herman Cain is, He isn't Boortz. Look for Herman and Limbaugh to switch slots. I know Rush likes to sleep later than Neal but................ He may have to reset his clock. I believe Neal was on WSB some many years ago before he went to WGST. WSB put someone named Kathy Fishburne in the early slot. It fell like a ton of bricks but Neal was already committed to WGST
JayJaythe JetPilot October 01, 2012 at 04:47 PM
which came first, WGST switching to an all MEXICAN format or WSB's announcement that Limbaugh was joining the 50,000 watt blowtorch of the SOUTH?? Whichever, GST and Clear Channel made a drastic mistake by not informing their listeners prior to having PEPE take over the 640a.m. airwaves
Renee ny October 02, 2012 at 08:51 PM
We will miss Boortz but I'm so glad Rush has joined WSB.

With the pending retirement of Neal Boortz, perhaps Liberals were thinking that they "finally won". Now WSB has quashed their dreams. As for the addition of Rush to the WSB lineup causing the station to be even more "one-sided", t'aint so when you look at the larger picture! Liberals "own" most of Hollywood and the rest of the entertainment industry - except perhaps Country/Western music; they "own" most of the Mainstream Media - including most newspapers; they "own" most of Academia; they "own" most of Big Labor; they "own" most of the leviathan of government bureaucracies,..and yet they want more. With the advent of the internet and the releasing of talk radio from the bonds of the "Fairness Doctrine", we have more diverse sources of information than ever before and the "Empire" (along with its supporters) doesn't like those encroachments on its territories. Yes, it means that we have more BS to wade through before we make our informed-decisions, it comes with the defense of Liberty. Information monopolies are not a good idea. Reasoned dissent is part of our Checks-and-Balances.

And to think, my IQ would have been higher than 148 had I not listened to Rush Limbaugh that one fateful summer! The only drivel here is being issued from the keyboards of so called Progressives.
John Scott October 03, 2012 at 06:02 PM
To a Liberal or Progressive, this is utter Blasphemy. I say "Rock On!"
Jack Wood October 03, 2012 at 07:41 PM
Rush Limbaugh and WSB radio at at the top of their game while Brack's beloved liberal rag, the AJC, is withering on the vine and losing subscribers, talent and advertising. Tell us again, Brack, which way does the wind blow?
Bill October 04, 2012 at 05:41 AM
Clark Howard lost a lot of credibility when he backed T-Splost and as a reult his ratings were tanking. WSB made a very smart move. Who is Elliot Brack? I have lived here in Duluth for 5 years and have never heard of him.
Bill October 04, 2012 at 05:43 AM
CNN - 1 sided left MSNBC - 1 sided left ABC - 1 sided left NBC - 1 sided left CBS - 1 sided left I don't see Rob Craigmyle complaining about them! what a phoney!
Bill October 04, 2012 at 05:45 AM
Looks like Stan has lost most of his IQ points
William White October 04, 2012 at 09:01 AM
Tell me, what is the time slot given to Rush on WSB? I LOVE Rush and welcome this wonderful new! Great move WSB.
Janice Birch October 04, 2012 at 11:41 PM
BRACK?! You are a propagandist spreading the poison that has been injected into America for too many years by your peers the Communists party. We Americans will win because your beliefs have never worked. I Love the WSB Talk Radio line up :)
Janice Birch October 04, 2012 at 11:42 PM
Stan state your beef with WSB instead of bumper sticker logos.
Janice Birch October 04, 2012 at 11:45 PM
Yes I agree JetPilot. Quite a bit of confusion.
Janice Birch October 04, 2012 at 11:48 PM

I care about politicians. The elected un- officials elected because people have become slackers. Come down from the cloud and and start participating. Because the country you grew up in will become a prison with you in it if we do not defeat the second term for Obama. I thank god for our free speech WSB Hosts who un spin the Leftists spin. I don't want to be one of the stupid mentally challenged people who Obama says we the American people are all stupid. Not me Barack I will fight to my death to brandish your wet dreams for America.
Janice Birch October 10, 2012 at 01:24 AM
Ditto Bill. I could not believe Clark did that.
Bill October 10, 2012 at 02:17 AM
Marilyn, then stop listening to MSNBC!
johnnyrenonv October 22, 2012 at 07:18 PM
Republican talk show hosts do NOT represent conservative values. They represent hate.
Bill October 22, 2012 at 09:51 PM
Johnnyrenonv is a liar.
Ike Scotch November 27, 2012 at 05:55 PM
WSB had a chance to do the right thing but instead they bring on the most hateful, divisive radio host on the planet. Shame on you WSB. Even more reason now to NEVER tune in to WSB.
Bill November 27, 2012 at 10:10 PM
Ike, I am sorry to hear that you do not have the intellectual capacity to understand Rush. Sounds like you prefer the hateful lineup of WGUN.
