Notre Dame Academy Girls and Boys NAML Teams Celebrate Championship Wins

Notre Dame Academy’s Boys and Girls Division A teams celebrated big wins Thursday, February 6th in their North Atlanta Metro League Championship games.  The Lady Irish won their championship game 39-19 against the previously undefeated Excel Christian Academy team.  The girls team consisted of 5th-8th graders: Abigail Claire Biggs, Ansley Biggs, Sarah Bittner, Alexis Chang, Corinne Cookson, Alexandra Dollar, Lily Dougherty, Josie Fleck, Nina Heyn, Shannon Lorusso, Sheila Lorusso, Madison Lowden, Sydney Lowden, Kyra Montes, Luisa Smolynsky and Maggie Thayer. 

 

NDA’s boys team defeated Cornerstone Christian Academy 31-29 after an intense game to claim first place too.  The boys team consisted of 6th-8th graders: Thomas Chang, Grant Cookson, Cooper Curtin, Keenan Finneran, Dermot Hegarty, Grant Johnson, John McKimmy, Brandon McPherson, Jack Rasmussen, Preston Schaefer, Trent Schweizer, Daniel Teran and Andrew Van Wie.

“I am so proud of both of our teams,” stated Ken Oxendine, NDA’s Athletic Director. “They played smart basketball against two tough opponents.  It’s been wonderful to see our students grow and improve throughout the school year.”
