After stuffing ourselves with turkey and all the trimmings on Thanksgiving, the following day has traditionally been the day that begins the annual holiday shopping rush.
I remember years ago, there wouldn't be a Christmas tree or decoration in sight at the malls until the day after Thanksgiving. Then the shopping season began as the malls were transformed overnight to a winter wonderland for shoppers.
Ah, but times they have changed.
In recent years, retailers have begun to incroach on the holiday by opening on Thanksgiving Day. Slowly some national chains have found a way to get a jump on the traditional shopping day.
This year mega retail giant Walmart announced it will begin offering "Black Friday" specials at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving night.
Other retailers are opening at 8 and 9 p.m. Thursday and at midnight.
What do you think of this retail trend of opening on Thanksgiving Day? Do you like getting a jump on your Christmas shopping? Or do you think stores should be closed that day?
