New Apartment Building Coming at Rainbow Village

A nonprofit firm and a builder are joining forces to help the Duluth facility.

Rainbow Village, a transitional housing complex in Duluth for homeless people, is about to get more apartments.

According to a recent news release, HomeAid Atlanta, a nonprofit organization that builds dignified transitional housing for temporarily homeless families and individuals, has teamed with Harcrest Homes to build Rainbow Village's third six-unit apartment building. It will add about 36 beds for families in need.

Building construction is expected to start in October as part of Phase III of Rainbow Village's "Building Strong Communities...One Family at a Time" campaign, the release said.

Upon completion, the campus will consist of a 30-family "village," including a community center and family service center.

Rainbow Village CEO Rev. Nancy Yancey said in the release, "Rainbow Village is thrilled to be partnering with HomeAid and Harcrest Homes on this project.  I can't think of a better way to utilize shared resources and community effort in a meaningful way that will be helpful to generations of homeless families with children in the years to come."
